About Dr. Falu
Dr. Falu Rami is an international psychologist and a licensed marriage and family therapist in California for over twenty years. She has her PhD in international psychology with a specialization in organization and systems.
Dr. Falu is a country conditions/country of origin information expert who provides affidavits for individuals filing for asylum, hardship waivers, and other forms of protection, and is available for telephonic or oral testimony. Dr. Falu also does psychological evaluations for various types of immigration evaluations. Her specialties include working with immigrants and refugees.
In addition, she conducts personal injury psychological evaluations and therapy for those that are suffering from trauma including victims of crime. She is trained in EMDR and other modalities. She also has extensive experience providing substance abuse services and working with individuals from diverse and multicultural backgrounds.
Consultant
Dr. Falu also works as a consultant and responds to critical incident stress debriefing incidents to various organizations. She has provided disaster mental health support and consultation, pandemic such as COVID-19, downsizing in organizations, death of an employee, traumatic events and assaults. She has provided management consultation during these events, psycho-education services, and coping skills to impacted employees. For disaster mental health incidents she has also provided systemic and organizational assessments of communities and evaluation of current resources and services and making recommendations for interventions.
Her experience includes working in various settings such as: jails, residential centers, outpatient clinics, hospitals, governmental, non-profits, and for-profit organizations. In these settings she has worked with multidisciplinary teams, provided consultations to leaders, program development and evaluation of services, training, supervision, crisis intervention services and direct services to individuals.
Passionate
Dr. Falu is passionate about international/global psychology and its development in various countries. She is committed to working with immigrants, refugees, indigenous peoples, and other marginalized communities. She feels it is important to develop programs, services, interventions, and a psychology that is respective of the country’s context, culture, resources, and other structures.
Her dissertation focused on migration, adjustment, and refugees and the role of policies, politics, and media in shaping attitudes towards migrants and allocation of resources. She has presented at multiple conferences regarding this topic. Dr. Falu is also a researcher and author and has co-authored chapters on topics and populations that has academically contributed to the field of international psychology. She is interested in organizational development and leadership consultation opportunities domestically as well as in international contexts.
